    Verify that the HVAC filters are clean.<\/strong> Replace them if they are dusty. For electronic filters, clean them according to the frequency recommended by the manufacturer.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Turn off the circuit breakers<\/strong> on the house’s electrical panel supplying your air conditioning or heating system for 20 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Re-open the breakers<\/strong> after 20 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

  • 4<\/span>

    Oil or fuel oil system: <\/strong> Verify the oil level on the tank dial. Make sure you press the burner restart button only once.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Gas system:<\/strong> Verify the outside chimney evacuations are not obstructed by snow or ice.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Verify the air temperature from the air outlets in various rooms.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/li>

    Outdoor unit completely iced over:<\/strong> Turn off the circuit breaker on your heat pump and set the thermostat to EM-HEAT mode. You can pour hot water on your outdoor unit to melt the ice. CAUTION:<\/strong> The circuit breaker must be closed. Once the unit has defrosted, turn the circuit breaker back on and let the HVAC system restart by itself.
